Boomers are by far the wealthiest generation. But targeting them requires messaging that speaks to them. Experts from AARP have conducted extensive research and recommend the following:
Although they vehemently deny it, Boomers love talking about their various ailments and chronic diseases, including the side effects
It’s important to let them think they know better than everyone else, especially their children’s spouses
Put on “Dancing Queen” and they’ll all get up and dance
Many of them were hippies but got cranky and conservative as they aged
Understand that they think they’re cool and always will, despite much evidence to the contrary
They love Facebook and still post on their grandkids profiles and wonder why they never hear back
They like to think that they’re digitally savy, so they buy lots of gadgets that they only use for a week or two
When using slang, they’re usually years behind (What up, dog?)
When considering garments, elastic waistbands are greatly appreciated, but must not be obvious
Now that Viagra has gone off patent and many cheaper alternatives are available – it’s okay to talk about sex
And God help you if you’re their wealth advisor, be prepared for a slew of stock tips as they know the markets better than you.
So true, dawg!
